The problem

It happens to 150,000+ Irish drivers each year.

A moment of distraction at the pump. A rental you're unfamiliar with. A diesel courtesy car. Misfuelling is the most common preventable engine fault — and the most expensive if you start the engine.

Petrol in diesel

Most common misfuel. Petrol acts as a solvent — destroys fuel pump lubrication.

Diesel in petrol

Engine will misfire, foul plugs and stall. Full drain still required.

AdBlue in fuel tank

AdBlue poured into the diesel or petrol tank crystallises and corrodes injectors, pump and lines. Do not start the engine — full drain and flush required.

Contaminated tank

Water, dirt, or stale fuel after long storage. We drain, flush and refill with fresh fuel.

Fully insured

€5M public liability. EPA-licensed waste fuel disposal. Manufacturer-approved equipment.

The process

From SOS to back on the road in under an hour.

01

One call, no panic

Ring us with your reg, fuel type and exact location. We confirm a price up front and dispatch the nearest technician on the spot — no call-backs, no quotes by email.

02

Rapid roadside arrival

Typical on-scene time is under an hour across our core counties, often far less. Fully kitted van, certified drain rig, PPE and spill containment — ready to work the moment we pull up.

03

Drain, flush, protect

We safely extract every drop of contaminated fuel and thoroughly flush the system — leaving nothing behind that could damage your engine down the line.

Safety first

Don't start the engine. Don't smoke near the car. Stand behind the safety barrier if you're on a public road.

Right now — what to do

I've just put the wrong fuel in. What's the very first thing I should do?
Do NOT turn the key, do NOT touch the ignition, and do NOT push the start button — even briefly. Activating the fuel pump circulates contaminated fuel through the system. Step out, leave the key in your pocket, and ring us on 089 700 2077.
I've already started the engine — is the car ruined?
Almost certainly not. Switch it off immediately and don't restart it. If you only ran it for a few seconds the damage is usually limited to fuel in the lines, which we flush. The longer it runs, the higher the risk to the high-pressure pump and injectors — but a same-day drain still resolves the vast majority of cases.
Is it safe to roll/push the car off the forecourt?
Yes — putting the car in neutral and pushing it to a safe spot (or letting forecourt staff help) is fine. What you must not do is crank the starter to move it. If you're on a motorway hard shoulder, stay behind the barrier and call 112 first, then us.
Can I drive it 'just a short distance' home?
No. Even 500 metres can push contaminated fuel deep into the injection system and turn a €209 drain into a €2,000+ repair. We come to you across our service area — wait for us.

The service & your car

How long does the drain actually take?
On-site work is typically 30–45 minutes. Tank drained, fuel lines purged, 10 litres of fresh correct fuel added, engine run-tested. You drive away the same visit in 95% of cases.
Do you cover outside Leinster?
Our direct service area is Dublin, Kildare, Meath, Wicklow, Laois, Kilkenny, Portlaoise, Athlone, Mullingar and Tullamore. For other areas we'll put you in touch with a recommended contractor we trust.
How do you dispose of the contaminated fuel?
All recovered fuel is transported in EPA-licensed containers to a registered hazardous waste facility for safe processing. You'll receive a waste transfer note on request.

Payment & insurance

How much does it cost — really?
€209 flat for cars and vans up to 3.5t, €289 for heavier/commercial. No call-out fee, no mileage charge, no surcharge for nights or weekends. The price we quote on the phone is the price you pay on the day.
Do you take card payments?
Yes. Card, Revolut, Apple Pay, Google Pay or bank transfer. No cash needed.
Will my insurance cover this?
Many comprehensive policies in Ireland cover misfuelling — check with your insurer. We provide a full itemised invoice you can submit for reimbursement.
